The granary insect-control management system is mainly used in low temperature silos. In the past, rice was often stored in a room temperature warehouse, making it impossible to control the temperature and increasing the insect hazard. In recent years, the low-temperature refrigeration method has been gradually adapted in order to improve the quality of rice and reduce the occurrence of insect. Moreover, the storage temperature can also be adjusted by network monitoring. However, as manual inspection for stored products  insects is still employed during the storage period, it is impossible to know the occurrence of insect damage inside the warehouse in real time for a quick control in such damage. Whereas the temperature of low temperature storage silos is usually controlled at 18℃, the temperature varies at different parts of silos and is greatly affected by the external environment. If a low temperature storage silo is installed indoors, the difference between the temperature obtained from the top of the silo and the preset temperature can be controlled to fall within 4℃. However, if the silo is established outdoor, the temperature measured from its top often exceeds the preset temperature by more than 5℃. Sharp increase in the temperature at the top of silo directly affects the quality of the rice stored thereat and the frequency of insect damage. To have an immediate feedback on the temperature of silos and the occurrence of insect damage, and to effectively resolve the insect problem in low-temperature silos, we have built an intelligent insect-control management system in low temperature silos in different regions for testing. In this system, light-emitting diodes (LED ) insect traps are installed onto the ceilings of silos.
